Ionic technology is still in development. However, there are many plugins available to cover most of the native functionalities. Apache Cordova allows you to integrate the plugins which can add the functionality to access those features. ![]() You cannot access any device-specific feature in Ionic without using Apache Cordova. For example, if you are developing a financial app, e.g., the app for a bank, the Ionic framework is not recommended. The app developed with the Ionic framework may not provide as much security as a native application. However, the performance gap is not noticeable for most of the average users. The performance of the Ionic app is not as good as compared to native mobile applications. The disadvantages of Ionic application are as follows: The ionic platform allows its components to adapt to the platform on which the application is running. Why Collaboration?Įvery project, every timeline, every budget, every client, every team member, every unforeseen factor combine to create a unique set of constraints within which you are expected to do amazing work. In this piece, I hope to share a glimpse of how we encourage these ideals at Sparkbox. It requires approaching everything with an eye toward collaboration, inviting others into the conversation and demonstrating that the sum of the parts is truly greater than the whole. Over the past few years, this thinking has infiltrated almost every part of how I work in my role as President of Sparkbox - from writing estimates to writing code. We need to inspire our people to prove this idea in their everyday work with each other and with our clients. In order to do this, we need to start building collaboration into our culture. The remaining numbers generally fall into the " 'eavy" category, with tracks like "I'll keep on trying" and "Dreammare" setting out the band's stall for future albums perfectly. "Wake up (set your sights)" also has a lovely soft conclusion which follows an almost jazz like opening section. It's a beautiful, haunting number, with a peaceful message. Their interpretation is quite stunning, with David Byron adopting various vocal sounds to distinguish between the two characters in the song. "Come away Melinda" (also recorded by UFO) is one of the very few covers the band has done. There are however several decidedly softer moments. The opening track, "Gypsy" is indeed "heavy", with a driving Hammond organ, a thumping beat, and an early burst of Mick Box's famous wah wah guitar soloing. While the "Salisbury" version sees the track being developed well, the slightly rawer earlier version here is well worth hearing. (Despite this, it was in turn replaced on the US version of "Salisbury" by the single B side "Simon the bullet freak"). The version of "Bird of prey" included here is different to the one which appeared on the UK version of "Salisbury". Since "Lucy blues" was the weakest track on VEVU, being a somewhat out of place blues rendition, the revision does represent an improvement. The track listing is the same, except that "Lucy Blues" is dropped in favour of "Bird of prey". Instead, it was released with a different sleeve and simply titled "Uriah Heep". Presumably this was because of the Cockney/Dickensian connections which would not have been so meaningful to those outwith the UK. ![]() Uriah Heep's first album, "Very 'eavy, very 'umble" was not released in the US under that title. Weight watcher point book6/29/2023 ![]() If you are in the US you will have the option of staying on the Personal Points plan until 11 December 2022 but then you will automatically be transferred to the new Points plan. The plan will roll out to the rest of the world over the next few weeks. Who has access to the New WW plan?Īs of 14 November 2022 anyone living in the US should have access to the new Points plan. You may also 'earn' further Points for the activities that you do. Your daily Points allocation is the amount of Points that you should try to eat per day and the weekly Points are those that you can use to top up your dailies or can use for that special meal out or piece of cake! You will also be given a comprehensive list of foods that are Zero Points - that is, foods that you can eat without them diminishing your Point allocation (more about that below!). This will nudge you towards reaching for the healthier more satisfying foods. You can use your Points allocation on any foods that you want, with foods that are higher in protein and lower in fat being fewer Points than foods high is sugar and saturated fats. This is worked out (for you via the WW App) using a calculation of the nutritional makeup of the food - its calories, protein content, fats, fiber etc. This Points allocation is calculated by looking at your gender, your current weight, age, height etc.Įvery food has a Points value. So how does Weight Watchers Points work?Įach person following the program will be given a set allocation of daily & weekly Points that they can 'use' on whatever foods they want. That doesn't mean that everyone's Point allocation will be the same though. This means that a food that 'costs' 3 Points for you will also 'cost' 3 Points for everyone else! Unlike the Personal Points plan of 2021, the new WW Points plan will mean that everyone follows the same plan (unless they are diabetic in which case the plan will differ slightly). The new program is called Points and is very similar to the Freestyle Plan of 2017/2018 and the myWW Blue Plan of 2019/2020. Weight Watchers has gone 'back to basics'. So, it's happened! Weight Watchers has begun rolling out the new Weight Watchers Points Plan (2022 / 2023) and I will explain it all here. Example of polyphonic music6/29/2023 And free jazz uses completely improvised polyphony among any number of musicians. In bebop, the bass plays a continual countermelody consisting almost entirely of quarter notes, forming a kind of polyphony with whatever else is happening on top. Jazz from the swing era often has a soloist playing against a composed line or lines from the band. In Dixieland jazz, the trumpet carries the melody while the clarinet and trombone improvise semi-contrapuntal lines around it. You can hear polyphony in many styles of music other than western classical. By contrast, Mozart tended to use homophony, which organizes the voices in a way that’s more similar to modern pop songs: a complex foreground melody line accompanied by block chords and a simpler bassline. Bach wrote huge amounts of beautiful counterpoint. ![]() This makes the music very intellectually stimulating, though it can also be difficult to follow. In counterpoint, there may not be any “foreground” or “background” line, just a mutual conversation. In counterpoint, each voice plays its own independent melodic line, and notes in the different lines coincide to produce chords. Technically, any music with multiple voices is polyphonic, but classical music generally uses the word to refer to a specific technique called counterpoint. One voice is in red, and the other is in blue. Here’s a nice example from Wikipedia, showing the first few measures of the Allemande from Bach’s violin partita in B minor. Check out this scholarly treatise on Bach’s single-instrument counterpoint by Stacey Davis. Bach used this technique to great effect, for example in his famous cello suites. It’s even possible to simulate polyphony on a monophonic instrument - you can interleave the notes of a higher-pitched melody with the notes of a lower-pitched melody, and the ear will hear them as separate. The same is true on the guitar, though keeping the voices independent is a lot harder than on a keyboard instrument. It’s possible to play even more voices at once on the piano, as long as each line forms a coherent perceptual grouping. If you play one melodic line with your left hand and a different one with your right, that’s two voices. ![]() ![]() Your ear perceives sequences of notes that are close in pitch and time as coming from a single “voice.” Notes that are widely separated in pitch and time sound like they come from different “voices.”Ĭonsider the piano. That’s what’s happening in the Glenn Gould video above. You can also play music with multiple voices on a single instrument. In larger ensembles like orchestras, a number of instruments might play the same “voice” - for example, the viola section will act as a single entity, creating a single voice from unison. Each plays a stream of notes, one at a time. So what exactly is a “voice” outside the context of a choir? If you have a wind or string ensemble, each instrument is a separate voice. And usually, polyphony means that the different voices are all playing/singing independent lines. Over the course of musical history, the term has become more abstracted, referring to multiple “voices” played on any instrument. Originally, polyphony literally meant multiple people singing together. This is as opposed to monophony - one voice. ![]() The word is from Greek, “poly” meaning many and “phony” meaning voice.
